Section 5AAA Track and Field Highlights
A number of athletes from Osseo, Maple Grove, Champlin Park and Park Center qualified for the state track and field meet at the Section 5AAA meet.
The Osseo boys finished second behind Mounds View as a team. Maple Grove, Champlin Park, and Osseo placed 4-5-6 in the girls team standings.
Among the local girls event winners:
Nina Thomas (Osseo) shot put; Breanna Benjamin (Park Center) triple jump; Erika Imdieke (Maple Grove) high jump; Eva Williams (Maple Grove) 400 meters; Hope Wells (Osseo) 300 hurdles; April Watson (Maple Grove) 800 meters; Makayla Shipman (Champlin Park) 200 meters; Maple Grove 4 x 400 relay and 4 x 800 relay; Champlin Park 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 relay.
Local boys event winners:
Henry White (Maple Grove) pole vault; Linton McPherson (Osseo) 110 and 300 hurdles; Trevis Tonan (Osseo) 400 meters; Cade Sanvik (Osseo) 800 meters; Osseo 4 x 800 relay; Maple Grove 4 x 100 relay.
The state meet is this week at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
