Gullickson, Young Win State Titles at Track and Field

Wayzata’s Maddie Gullickson and Osseo’s Payton Young both won state champions Thursday on Day 1 of the Class AAA state meet.

Gullickson won her fourth straight state championship in the girls 3200-meter run, winning in 10:13.25. Her teammate Jazleen Malherek-Osorio ran a career-best race in 10:18.44 to place second.

Young won the long jump with a best jump of 19’ 3”.

The second day of Class AAA competition is Saturday afternoon at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
