Champlin Park Softball Loses to Rogers in Section 5AAAA Final
The Champlin Park softball team had just four losses this season, but three of them were against Rogers.
The Royals beat the Rebels 3-0 to win the Section 5AAAA championship Thursday at Rogers High School.
After four scoreless innings, Rogers broke it open in the bottom of the fifth. Kami Messer hit a two-run double off the fence in left. The Royals added another run on a groundout to build a 3-0 lead.
That was more than enough for 8th grade pitcher AnnaBelle Waldoch, who pitched a three-hitter with nine strikeouts. Rogers returns to the state tournament for the first time since 2005.
