Armstrong Softball Beats Wayzata in Section 6AAAA Tournament
The Armstrong softball team beat Wayzata 5-3 in an elimination game in the Section 6AAAA tournament Tuesday.
After taking an early 2-0 lead in the second inning on hits by Sam Lind and Gabby Berns, Armstrong saw Wayzata score single runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead.
Alexa Miller drove in Wayzata’s first run, with Ella Freeman tying the game 2-2 with a solo homer in the fourth and driving in the go-ahead run in the fifth.
Armstrong pushed three runs across in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead back for good.
The Falcons followed the win with a victory over Edina, setting up a second meeting for the section title with the Hornets Wednesday.
