Plymouth Movie Theater, Surly Brewing Pair Up to Promote ‘Cocaine Bear’
A Plymouth movie theater is teaming up with a local brewery for a promotion that’s a little out of the ordinary.
“We’re launching a couple new beers this year,” said Aaron Charlson of Surly Brewing Co. “The first one is called “One Man Mosh Pit.” It’s a hazy IPA and it launched in early February and it kind of coincided with the premier of the Oscar-worthy, I’m hoping, ‘Cocaine Bear.'”
Surly Brewing is teaming up with Emagine Willow Creek movie theater in Plymouth for a happy hour event on March 2 prior to the 7:30 p.m. showing of “Cocaine Bear.”
The movie’s plot is outlandish, but is actually inspired by a true story: a bear in the woods ingests a bag of cocaine after drug smugglers drop it from an airplane. The actual bear died in 1985 after ingesting cocaine dropped in a Georgia national park.
Surly Brewing plans to serve its new beer “One Man Mosh Pit” and dress people in bear costumes.
Aaron Charlson of Surly Brewing Company holds up one of the bear heads that people can wear at the Willow Creek event.
“We’ll have some swag, we’ll have t-shirts, stickers, the usual stuff to hand out at events,” Charlson said. “And we will have some of these lovely bear heads.”
The event on Thursday starts at 5 p.m. and you don’t need tickets to the film to attend.
Join us at Emagine Willow Creek in Plymouth on Thurs., March 2 at 5pm for a Surly Happy Hour before the premiere of Cocaine Bear, a film about a bear that does cocaine. We’ll be pouring OMMP, giving away swag, & dressing adult men in bear costumes. Yes, for real. @EmagineTheatres pic.twitter.com/3DKlGATNnL
