Mike Goldstein, Former Plymouth Police Chief, Dies
Mike Goldstein, the city’s former longtime police chief and public safety director, died unexpectedly due to a medical incident he suffered on Tuesday.
The city of Plymouth confirmed Goldstein’s passing. No further details were immediately available.
Goldstein retired in 2021 following a law enforcement career that spanned more than 30 years.
“We are heartbroken with the news of Mike’s passing,” said Erik Fadden, Plymouth’s current public safety director, who served with Goldstein for 16 years. “Mike leaves behind a lasting and unmatched legacy.”
Goldstein devoted nearly his entire life to Plymouth, the city he grew up in. He joined the first class of Plymouth Police Explorers in 1984 while in high school, then became part of the first group of Plymouth Police Reserves.
In 1990, Goldstein joined the Plymouth Police Department as a full-time officer. He rose through the ranks and became police chief in 2004. Goldstein was later named public safety director in 2015, when the police and fire departments joined under one leadership structure.
The city of Plymouth has lowered flags to half-mast in honor of Goldstein.
CCX News interviewed Goldstein in 2021 as he reflected on his law enforcement career. That story can be seen below.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
