Local Students Audition for New Netflix STEM Show
Students from across the Northwest Metro may soon find themselves in the national spotlight. Code Ninjas in Plymouth recently hosted a casting event for a new Netflix series called “Schooled,” giving local youth an opportunity to showcase their science and technology skills on a bigger stage.
The competition series will be hosted by a former NASA engineer and pits children interested in STEM against real-life engineering challenges.
Since opening nearly three years ago, the staff at Code Ninjas in Plymouth has taught thousands of children about coding through video game development, robotics, and hands-on tech education. Now, they are hoping to see some of those familiar local faces put their problem-solving abilities to the test for a national audience.

A Platform for Innovation
During the local casting call, producers asked young hopefuls what makes them stand out. One participating student highlighted their creative approach to problem-solving:
“I have a very creative mind and I can think through solutions.”
Sanjeev Raut, co-owner of Code Ninjas Plymouth, believes the show is a fantastic opportunity for young minds to demonstrate the skills they are learning in the community.
“I think it’s a perfect platform to harness that and to see the kids in action because they can really accomplish what they set out to do,” Raut said. “So, giving them a challenge, which we do every year here—giving them a challenge, having them work as a team and to solve a problem—I think, you know, the world sees great potential in that.”
Filming for “Schooled” will take place in Los Angeles this summer. Finalists will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles and a $2,000 weekly stipend.
