Reyes Restaurant, Brooklyn Park’s Newest Eatery, Is ‘Rich in Culture’
Brooklyn Park now has a new restaurant where you can eat breakfast, enjoy a margarita and taste food from several different regions of the world.
At first glance, Reyes Restaurant Bar & Breakfast may look like a Mexican restaurant, but it doesn’t quite fall into that category.
“The previous ownership, it was a Mexican restaurant,” said Rickardo Diaz, an office administrator for Reyes. “Now Carlos [Mancia], who was the manager of the previous restaurant, he took over and changed the entire concept of the restaurant.”
Diaz served as a translator for Carlos Mancia, who bought the restaurant and revamped it after El Loro closed in September.
“New floor, everything basically inside, it is absolutely new,” Diaz said. “We renewed pretty much a hundred percent of the interior.”
A new restaurant called for a new menu. Yes, you’ll certainly find items here with a Central American flair, such as tacos, plantains and yuca fries.

The birria ramen, served with two tacos, is one of the restaurant’s most popular dishes.
But from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Reyes serves breakfast, with cuisine like pancakes and eggs to get the day started.
“It was a need in the community, in the Brooklyn Park area,” Diaz said. “‘Cause there is no other places for breakfast here.”
A diverse menu
In addition to all the Latin American dishes, you’ll find of a wide assortment of Italian cuisine on the menu, including pasta, soup and bread sticks.
“We wanted to give [customers] a variety of opportunity and options for customers to decide what they feel like,” Diaz said. “And then coming to one place, they can also feel like ‘oh it is rich in culture, rich in food, rich in the options that they can select.'”
Ultimately, Reyes is a restaurant centered around variety, and the hope is that families will come in to support this family-owned establishment.
“They’re very friendly and they can definitely make your day better after you visit Reyes bar,” Diaz said, referring to the staff.
