Fallen Wood Trim That ‘Sounded Like Gunfire’ Leads to Champlin Park School Lockdown
Champlin Park High School went into lockdown Thursday afternoon after school staff thought they heard a possible gunshot.
That sound, perceived as gunfire, ended up being traced to a piece of wood trim around the lockers that somehow became unattached from the wall and fell to the ground.
Brooklyn Park police showed up at the school shortly before 1:30 p.m. on a “report of a disturbance,” according to an alert sent out by police. Officers found the school had been placed into lockdown upon arrival. The officers quickly determined the noise was not gunfire, but the wood trim that had fallen.
Police did clear the school as a precaution, but found no other issues.
