Brooklyn Park Police: Car Theft Leads To Shots Fired at Vehicle Owner
Brooklyn Park police are looking for two people who stole a vehicle, then fired shots at the vehicle’s owner.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. Monday in the area of 63rd Avenue North and Sunny Lane North. Police say the owner of the stolen vehicle was running after the car thieves when gunshots were fired at him.
According to an alert sent out by Brooklyn Park police:
A witness reported to police that he had heard five or six shots and also observed two people running south on Sunny Lane North. Police then learned the gun shots were related to a stolen vehicle case that occurred on the 6300 block of Boone Avenue North.
Police found out the owner of the stolen vehicle was pursuing the culprits on the 6300 block of Zealand Avenue North when shots were fired at him. The vehicle owner was not hurt.
A search that included a K9 unit and unmanned aerial vehicle did not find the shooters. However, police did locate evidence of gunfire.
The incident remained under active investigation Tuesday.
