Wayzata pulls away to beat Maple Grove in boys soccer semifinals
With a good share of last year’s state runner up team back, the Wayzata boys soccer team has played well all season. The Trojans will return to the championship game after knocking off Maple Grove 6-2 in the semifinals Monday morning. Stuart Sain scored twice for the Trojans, with Patrick Weah, Walter Smith, Sadra Golzarian, and Benjamin Boeder also netting goals. Jack Gleckler and Mat Mueller scored for the Crimson. Maple Grove plays Duluth East in the third place game Tuesday at 4 p.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium. Wayzata meets Stillwater in a state final rematch Thursday at 3 p.m., also at U.S. Bank Stadium.
