Maple Grove Boys Soccer Starts Fast, Defeats Buffalo to Advance to Class AAA Championship
Everett Johnston scored two goals in the first seven minutes to help lead the Maple Grove boys soccer team to a 3-1 win over Buffalo in the state class AAA semifinals.
The win sends Maple Grove to their third straight state title game.
Johnston’s first goal came on the back side of a throw-in just 90 seconds into the match.
His second was a crossing feed from Solan Gamachise.
After taking a 2-0 lead into halftime, Gamachise added another goal off a turnover to extend the lead to three.
The Bison did score just a minute after Gamachise’s second goal, but that’s as close as they got.
The Crimson will face Edina in the class AAA state championship on Friday morning.
