Wayzata Girls Soccer Falls 7-2 to Edina in Battle of Unbeatens
The Wayzata girls’ soccer team lost their first match of the season at Edina by a score of 7-2.
Both the Trojans and Hornets came into Tuesday’s match undefeated at 15-0-0.
Wayzata is ranked #1 in the state in class AAA, while Edina is #2.
Edina led 2-1 after the first half and the Hornets extended the lead to 5-1 in the second, but Wayzata got one back on a goal from Grace Estby.
The Hornets’ offensive duo of Izzy Engle and Lou Ruffian were tough to stop though– Engle scored three goals and Ruffian netted two.
Edina ends the regular season perfect at 16-0 while Wayzata finishes 15-1.
Section playoffs begin next week.
