Wayzata Blanks Maple Grove to Win State Boys Soccer Title
The Wayzata boys soccer team claimed their second consecutive class AAA state championship with a 2-0 win over Maple Grove at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Trojans scored their two goals in the first half, both off corner kicks from Charlie Piller to Aiden Judickas.
With the win, Wayzata finished its unbeaten season with a 20-0-2 record.
The Trojans are the first high school boys soccer team in Minnesota to go back-to-back with winning state championships since Anoka in 2014-2015.
Maple Grove ends its season with a 19-1-1 record. It was the first time a Crimson boys soccer team made it to the state championship game since 1998.
