Providence Academy Softball Falls in Extra Innings
The Providence Academy softball team battled back to tie the game twice but ultimately fell 5-4 in in nine innings to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Friday.
Trailing 3-1, the Lions scored twice on a pair of errors in the bottom of the fifth to even the score 3-3.
The Lakers regained the lead in the sixth, scoring on a throwing error to go up 4-3.
With Providence down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh, Stella Serie dropped a hit just over the infield to score Lucy Rymer, who had doubled, evening the score at 4-4.
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth on a base hit by Olivia Cardinal that scored Brecklyn Jonell and held on for the 5-4 win.
Providence dropped to 10-6 with the loss; HWLL improved to 8-7.
