Maple Grove Girls Lacrosse Beats Orono for Consolation Title
The Maple Grove girls lacrosse team ended the season on a winning note, beating Orono 9-7 in the consolation final in the state tournament.
Maple Grove had lost to Orono during the regular season.
Maple Grove took a 2-1 lead after one quarter and led 4-3 at the half.
The third quarter was key for the Crimson as they broke a 4-4 tie by netting the next four goals to lead 8-4 through three quarters.
After Maple Grove had burned some time off the clock, Orono stormed back with three goals in less than a minute to pull within 8-7 before Ryley Dunn’s late insurance goal gave the Crimson the win.
Maple Grove finishes the season with a 15-4 record.
