Maple Grove Boys Soccer Wins Last-Second Thriller Over Rochester Mayo, 2-1
With fifteen seconds left in regulation, Maple Grove’s Solan Gamachise scored the game-winning goal to give the Crimson a 2-1 win over Rochester Mayo in the Class AAA boys soccer state tournament quarterfinal.
Maple Grove took the lead early in the first half when Everett Johnston put one past Mayo’s keeper Ryder Kolbe to make it 1-0, but the Spartans responded just two minutes later when Caden Wolfe cashed in on a Crimson miscommunication.
No team scored again until the final minute when Gamachise crashed hard on a rebound and netted the game-winner.
Maple Grove moves into state semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium where they’ll face Andover next Wednesday at 10:00 AM.
