Maple Grove Boys Soccer Scores Overtime Winner to Advance
Emmaus Olson’s goal late in overtime gave the Maple Grove boys soccer team a 2-1 win over Eagan in the state Class AAA quarterfinals.
Olson’s header goal came off a corner kick by Everett Johnston.
After a scoreless first half, each team netted a goal in the second half. Parker Carlson scored for the Crimson before Eddie Cotorra Valencia tied it for the Wildcats.
With the win Maple Grove (14-2-2) advances to the state tournament semifinals against Buffalo (16-0-4) Tuesday at 10 a.m. at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The teams tied 1-1 during the regular season.
