Maple Grove Boys Soccer Set for Season
A record number of players came to tryouts for the Maple Grove boys soccer team this season.
The Crimson finished 18-3 last season, winning the Northwest Suburban Conference and Section 5AAA titles before placing fourth at the state class AAA tournament.
They return six starters this fall, most of them on the defensive end.
Mr. Soccer finalist Chris Frantz and other top scorers Carter Sheard and Aaron Badillo graduated, so they will have to find new scorers this season.
Goalkeeper Beckett Carlson, defender Vincent Guadagno, and midfielder Aaron Karn are among the key returners this season.
Maple Grove opens the season at White Bear Lake Thursday night.
