Maple Grove Boys Soccer Rallies Late for Win
The Maple Grove boys soccer team survived a scare from winless Elk River, rallying for a 3-1 win.
Elk River Amos Gborie scored on a penalty kick 26 minutes into the match.
Playing a defensive style, the Elks protected that lead for much of the remaining time.
Maple Grove had a few near misses before breaking through in a big way.
Chris Frantz scored on a header off a Kebba Janneh corner kick with just under ten minutes to play to tie it 1-1.
Nineteen seconds later Janneh set up Chidera Anyamele for the go-ahead goal.
Anyamele added an insurance goal off an assist from Frantz as Maple Grove scored three times in the last ten minutes.
Maple Grove is now 8-1-1 with one game remaining, at Andover.
