Maple Grove Boys Soccer Beats Moorhead for Section Title
The Maple Grove boys soccer team capped off a great season by beating Moorhead 2-0 in the Section 8AA championship.
It’s the first loss of the season for the Spuds.
The game was scoreless at halftime, with Moorhead goalkeeper Jacob Hendrickson making a couple of huge saves.
Ten minutes into the second half, Chris Frantz made a nice run up the left side for Maple Grove and set up Chidera Anyamele for a goal.
After Moorhead came very close to tying it after a corner kick, the Crimson sealed the deal.
Frantz passed to Kristian Lodholz to Damon Humphrey for an insurance goal.
Maple Grove finishes the season with a 12-1-1 record.
There will be no state tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
