Rush Creek Golf Club Undergoes Significant Refresh To Celebrate 30 Years
Rush Creek Golf Club in Maple Grove is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. But as with any home lived in for that long, things need a refresh.
For the championship 18-hole golf course, consistently ranked one of the best public courses in the state, that refresh is significant.
“Normally this would be the time of year when we’re getting ready to open, but this year we’ll be closed in April and May for golf,” said Jenny Stendahl, golf operations manager at Rush Creek.
The closure is necessary as the golf club replaces its entire irrigation system, a project that started last fall.
“We are so excited about the benefits it’s going to bring,” said Stendahl. “We’re going to be able to control the water so much better, which is going to lead to course conditions improving and just not have as many repairs and all those types of things that were happening with our old system.”
Course supervisors will soon be able to pick and choose the areas that need watering, improving efficiency.
In addition, improvements are happening to the driving range, including the installation of artificial turf. Stendahl said the driving range should be ready for use within the next couple weeks.
As for when the championship course will reopen, that date will be dependent on the weather.
“We won’t really have a hard opening date until much closer to completion of the project,” said Stendahl.

Ballroom Renovation Complete
In another significant improvement, the MacMillan Ballroom, named after course founder W. Duncan MacMillan, recently received six weeks worth of renovations.
Enhancements included new carpeting, wall coverings and updated lighting.
“We feel so lucky to have grown throughout the Maple Grove community over these 30 years,” said Stendahl. “And now we host weddings, social events such as showers, groom’s dinners, high school banquets, meetings, corporate events, so many different things. And so to keep our space fresh and updated, it’s just nice to have a new look to things and keep everyone excited about our offerings.”
Stendhahl said the golf club had to prepare for the ballroom project a year in advance to work around event bookings.
“We’re really thankful for our on-site maintenance, Jeff Addicks, he oversaw the whole project start to finish, and it went very smooth, and we were able to get it done fairly quickly,” said Stendahl.
While maintenance on the 18-hole course continues, the club’s par-3 course, the Mac Nine, reopened Wednesday. The Highlander Restaurant and Pub also returned to full summer hours, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., this week.
