State House, Senate Races: A Ballot Preview for the NW Suburbs
Candidate filing has closed for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Senate races scheduled for Nov. 3.
Below is a list of candidates that have filed to run for seats in the CCX Media coverage area that features nine cities in the Twin Cities northwest suburbs.
Primary elections are scheduled for Aug. 11.
CCX Media will publish on-camera statements with candidates this fall after the primary elections have wrapped up.

Senate Races
Senate District 34 – Parts of Brooklyn Park, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Dayton and Rogers
Editor’s note: Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were shot in their home, allegedly by the same man who shot and killed Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark. Both Hoffmans survived, and he returned to the Senate for the 2026 session.

Editor’s note: this seat was previously held by former Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman (DFL). She, her husband Mark and their dog were assassinated in their Brooklyn Park home. Sen. John Hoffman and his wife were also shot that night, although both survived the attack.
