Police were called to the apartment complex on the 5800 block of 73rd Avenue shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday. Officers provided first aid and CPR to the boy upon arrival. The child was then taken to a local hospital.
According Brooklyn Park Deputy Chief Mark Bruley, numerous adults were inside the apartment when the child was shot. Those people gave conflicting accounts of what took place prior to the shooting, Bruley said. Police, however, are looking for a black male in his mid-20s who goes by the street name “BD.” That individual ran from the apartment after the shooting, police said. It’s unclear what his involvement is in the incident at this time.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department at (763) 493-8222.
