Plymouth Dessert Shop Debuts State Fair-Inspired Macarons
The Great Minnesota Get-Together may be several months away, but a Plymouth dessert shop already has something special planned for the big event.
Nikkolette’s Macarons is gearing up for its fourth appearance at the Minnesota State Fair this summer and is bringing with it some distinctly “fair-inspired” flavors along for the ride.
The shop was one of the vendors at the fair’s annual “Kickoff to Summer” event over Memorial Day weekend. It was there it debuted four brand-new flavors of its delicate, French sandwich cookies that pay homage to classic fair staples:
- Sweet Corn
- Root Beer
- Mini Doughnut
- Cotton Candy

The sweet corn, root beer, mini doughnut and cotton candy macarons will be available at the Nikkolette’s Macarons food truck at the 2026 Minnesota State Fair.
If you missed the Memorial Day weekend kickoff, don’t worry—you will have another chance to grab these exclusive treats when the official fair gets underway later this summer.
While the State Fair is famous for its heavy, deep-fried indulgences, owner Nikkolette Krumheuer notes that her macarons offer a different kind of treat for fairgoers.
“I think it’s just kind of a nice alternative to the deep-fried food,” Krumheuer said. “It’s just kind of a nice, light little snack, and they’re naturally gluten-free because they’re made with almond flour, so that’s kind of nice for anybody with gluten allergies.”
The Minnesota State Fair officially begins on Aug. 27 and runs through Sept. 7.
