Maple Grove Investment Advisor Pleads Guilty to Stealing $2.2 Million from Clients
He built an app to teach people about finance. Now a Maple Grove investment advisor awaits sentencing for stealing more than $2 million from clients.
Isaiah Goodman, 33, of Maple Grove, pleaded guilty this week to one county of felony mail fraud. Goodman owned Becoming Financial Group as well as MoneyVerbs, a business that claimed to provide financial guidance through an online app.
According to court documents, Goodman lied to clients about the use of their money. The guilty plea says Goodman defrauded at least 23 clients out of $2.2 million. Documents say the fraud went on from at least 2017 through November 2020.
Prosecutors say Goodman used the money he stole for his own personal use, like building a $1.7 million home in Plymouth.
Goodman will be sentenced June 29.
