Maple Grove Fire Department Gets Water Rescue Equipment Upgrades
Maple Grove’s Fire Department is now better equipped to handle a water rescue should the need arise.
Maple Grove recently acquired two new boats for ice and water rescue missions. One is an 18-foot aluminum boat with a dive/rescue platform. The other is a 14-foot inflatable Zodiac boat, which is designed for getting onto bodies of water without easy access.
“Maple Grove is now well-prepared for any type of emergency,” said Lt. Garrick Campbell of the Maple Grove Fire Department. “With these boats, we can respond to any type of water emergency, whether it’s one of our rivers, creeks, or at a big major boat landing. We can respond quickly and efficiently, deploy the vessels, get that crew out there.”
The new watercraft replace boats that the fire department has used since the 1980s. Maple Grove plans to keep the boats at Fire Station 5, located on the city’s southwest side.
