Four Candidates Running for Council Seat in Brooklyn Park Special Election
Four candidates have filed to run in a special election to fill the vacant East district council seat in Brooklyn Park. The seat was vacated by Lisa Jacobson, when she was sworn in as Brooklyn Park mayor.
Since more than 365 days remained on Jacobson’s term on the council, the city will hold a special election. The elected candidate will complete the remainder of Jacobson’s term, which expires December 31, 2024.
The Special Election Day will be February 8.
Because it’s a redistricting year, there are limitations on when an election can be held. The city amended the city’s charter to have a special election with no primary.
Absentee ballot voting begins on Dec. 27.
