Ex-Plymouth Daycare Teacher Charged with Malicious Punishment
A former daycare worker caught screaming at children on camera is facing criminal charges.
Katie Voight, 31, of Champlin, has been charged with malicious punishment of a child.
According to the criminal complaint, Plymouth police received a report of physical abuse at the Lil’ Explorers Childcare Center at 9905 45th Ave. N.
The father of a child at Lil’ Explorers told police that Voight picked up his son by one arm and pushed him into a chair roughly, then yelled in his face.
A former coworker of Voight filmed the interaction and posted it to social media.
Police obtained additional surveillance footage which showed Voight swat the victim with a rag and shout in his face.
“The videos [also] show the defendant grabbing other children and yelling at them,” the criminal complaint read.
Voight was charged by summons and is not in police custody.
