Plymouth Police Launch Investigation into Child Care Facility
Plymouth police are investigating an incident at a child care center after viral videos allegedly show an employee screaming at toddlers.
The videos depict an incident at Lil’ Explorers Child Care, located at 9905 45th Ave. N. in Plymouth.
They were posted by a woman who says she’s a former employee at the child care center.
In a Facebook post, she says she quit after witnessing “verbal outbursts” and “physical abuse” at the facility.
She posted several cell phone videos where an adult woman appears to scream at toddlers and handle them aggressively.
“Get up, put the toy away, now! I’m done! Put toys away — now,” she yells in one clip.
“You are not listening — you’re taking a break! Don’t look at her like she’s going to help you,” she yells in another. “I’m so tired of you.”
The incident was reported to the Plymouth Police Department. A spokesperson provided the following statement to CCX News:
On February 6, 2025 at 9:41pm, Plymouth Police Department received a call reporting allegations of mistreatment of a child at a childcare center at the 9000 block of 45th Avenue N. in Plymouth. Response from Lil’ Explorers Child Care
A spokesperson for Lil’ Explorers acknowledged the incident in a statement, saying they are “taking this matter very seriously.”
The full statement from the child care facility is below.
The safety and well-being of all of the children in our care is our top priority. We are aware of the recent incident involving several former employees and are taking this matter very seriously.
We do not tolerate behavior of this kind, and the individuals involved are no longer employed with us. In addition, we have initiated an investigation into this issue and are fully cooperating with authorities. We are also providing proper notifications to our local licensing.
All of our employees have passed mandated state background checks. In addition, we train our employees extensively on maintaining safety and their reporting obligations. We encourage and require employees to report concerns to management directly so that they can be immediately addressed. We also regularly remind them of their obligations as mandated reporters. Finally, we train employees on how to handle difficult situations in classrooms, including asking for help, offering help when it is needed, and immediately notifying management of classroom concerns.
We remain committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for the children and families we serve. And we are thankful to our families for the privilege of caring for their children.”
Records from the Minnesota Department of Human Service show the business was subject to a licensing investigation last April because “children were subjected to prohibited disciplinary actions.”
