Crystal Cove Aquatic Center Celebrates Grand Reopening
A summertime favorite is “back and ready to go” in the city of Crystal.
The city celebrated the grand reopening of the Crystal Cove Aquatic Center. It comes at a perfect time just before the Fourth of July holiday.
The renovated facility includes a new pool that replaced one that was 50 years old and had been leaking water.
“We tried to fix it and couldn’t. So the next step was to replace it,” said John Elholm, Crystal’s recreation director.
The fix resulted in a yearlong closure of the pool, but also allowed the city to make new additions based on public input.
“We added a lot of really neat new features,” said Elholm. “So,we have jumping platforms instead of a diving board. We have a climbing wall. We have a rope swing. We have these really neat floating features that kids seem to really love.”
The city also replaced the two flume water slides that were about 30 years old.
Sections of the pool are also shallower to accommodate smaller children.

The pool is shallower to allow smaller children to use the water slide.
