Brooklyn Park Man Killed in 7-Vehicle Crash Caused by ‘Merging Conflict’
The Minnesota State Patrol has identified a Brooklyn Park man who was killed in a seven-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 35-W in Mounds View.
The crash occurred at around 10 a.m. Tuesday on southbound I-35W near County Road I.
The State Patrol identified the victim killed in the crash as 67-year-old Kirby Schwarzkopf of Brooklyn Park.
Patrol investigators described the cause of the chain-reaction crash as a “merging conflict.”
The collision involved three semitrailer trucks, two SUVs, a minivan and a Chevy Impala sedan. Schwarzkopf was in the Impala.
No other details were available on the precise cause of the collision.
The patrol said no one else suffered life-threatening injuries. A total of four people were transported to hospitals to receive treatment for noncritical injuries, the patrol said.
Soutbound I-35W in the Mounds View area was closed for nearly four hours Tuesday due to the crash.
