Marketing Group Wants More People To Experience Maple Grove
The city of Maple Grove has its first official destination marketing organization.
Experience Maple Grove is a 501(c)6 non-profit that serves as a strategic partner with the city.
“We want to promote Maple Grove to other outside agencies and visitors to ensure they know about our shopping, dining and parks options within the community,” said Brett Angell, Assistant Community and Economic Development Director, Maple Grove.
Angell is one of two city employees on Experience Maple Grove’s board of directors. City business leaders make up the other 11 other board seats, while Gretchen Wilbrandt serves as president and CEO. See an interview with Gretchen here.
Experience Maple Grove is funded entirely by the city’s 3 percent lodging tax that’s been in place since 1988. Prior to the formation of Experience Maple Grove in 2021, the city was part of a multi-jurisdictional marketing effort with Brooklyn Center and Brooklyn Park.
One of the non-profit’s goals is to take advantage of Maple Grove’s large youth sports organizations.
“We have premiere athletic facilities,” Angell stated. “We really want to promote these youth events to ensure we’re drawing in large tournaments that are looking for homes.”
Experience Maple Grove Wants Visitors to Invest in the City
Their hope is that tournaments will draw in visitors who will stay in the city’s hotels, dine at the restaurants, and shop in the retail stores.
Experience Maple Grove is currently working on a marketing blitz that will cover all mediums.
There is no cost for Maple Grove businesses to take part in the advertising campaign.
Business owners who would like to participate should contact Experience Maple Grove.
