West Lutheran Softball Scores 11 Unanswered Runs, Wins First-Ever State Tournament Game
After a 48-minute rain delay, the West Lutheran softball team exploded in their first-ever state tournament game in school history, scoring eleven unanswered runs between the fifth and seventh innings.
Ninth-grade shortstop Kailey Opitz tied a single-game state tournament record with seven RBI’s in the win.
Madeline Tusler also went 4-for-4 with two RBI’s and sophomore pitcher Eleanor Rolf earned the win in the circle, while also going 5-for-5 from the plate.
The Warriors had 17 hits in all. They face Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley in the Class A state semifinals Thursday.
