West Lutheran Softball Beats Mayer Lutheran to Stay Alive
The West Lutheran softball team beat Mayer Lutheran 2-1 in an elimination game to stay alive in the Section 4A tournament.
The Warriors scored twice in the bottom of the first inning.
Megan Sherwood’s flyball deflected off the rightfielder’s glove to score Ellie Rolf.
Sherwood later scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0.
Mayer Lutheran scored in the fourth as Mari Buhr dropped a hit on the rightfield line to score Chloe Wulf.
That made it 2-1, but that’s as close as the Crusaders could get.
West Lutheran now faces top seed Randolph for the section title Thursday at University of Northwestern in St. Paul.
The Warriors, who have one loss in the tournament, need to win twice to take the section title.
