Wayzata Volleyball Completes Undefeated Season
The Wayzata volleyball team completed a shortened season with a 13-0 record following a three-set sweep of Maple Grove.
The Trojans won 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
Olivia Swenson recorded 11 kills and Sierra Moore to lead the Trojans.
It was the only loss of the season for the Crimson (13-1). Skylar Gray finished the match with 12 kills for MG.
The high school volleyball season was originally scheduled to finish in December but Governor Walz’s new COVID-19 restrictions that went into place Friday at midnight meant an early end to both the prep volleyball and football seasons.
The top four teams in Section 5AAA, Wayzata, Maple Grove, Champlin Park and Rogers, played a “mini-section” tourney Thursday and Friday. The Trojans won the state Class 3A championship in 2019.
