Champlin Park Girls Volleyball Upsets Maple Grove in Section Semifinals
The Champlin Park girls volleyball team beat Maple Grove in four sets Tuesday to advance to Thursday’s Section 5AAAA championship.
The Rebels (23-8) are the number four seed in the section and had lost during the regular season to the top-seeded Crimson.
But on Tuesday the Rebels came out strong and won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-18.
The Crimson rallied to win the third set 25-23 before the Rebels took the fourth 25-22 to win the match.
The loss ends the season for Maple Grove (27-4), who lost for the first time since early September as the Crimson were seeking the first section title in program history.
Champlin Park now plays Rogers for the title– a match you can see live on CCX 1 channels 799/12 on Comcast.
The Rebels beat the Royals in four sets late in the regular season.
