Wayzata Girls Soccer Scores Shootout Win
The Wayzata girls soccer team survived a scare in the Section 6AAA semifinals, edging Minneapolis Southwest 2-1 in a shootout.
The Trojans struck early as Davy Mokelke capitalized on a Southwest turnover to hot the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead.
Despite controlling play, Wayzata couldn’t add to the lead though.
The Lakers stayed in it and Kate Payton scored late in regulation to tie the score 1-1.
Wayzata had back-to-back near misses in the second OT but the game went to a shootout.
The Trojans scored on all four shootout attempts with Tenley Senden’s successful attempt ending the game with a 4-2 shootout advantage.
