Wayzata Girls Soccer Scores Early, but Falls to Edina, 2-1
Sarah Hyde headed a corner kick from Tenley Senden for a goal to put Wayzata girls soccer up 1-0 in the third minute of the game, but Edina scored two unanswered goals to knock off the Trojans 2-1.
The match-up was a rematch of the state class AAA championship from a season ago.
After Hyde’s goal, Lou Ruffien scored unassisted from 33 yards out to tie the game at one.
The Hornets’ Avery Cooper scored the go-ahead goal in the 53rd minute to give Edina the lead for good.
With under a minute to play, Senden sent a nice chip to Lauren Craig in the box, but her header went wide right.
Wayzata falls to 2-1 on the season with the loss.
