Wayzata Girls Soccer Falls to Edina in State Championship
The Wayzata girls soccer team lost to Edina 2-1 in the class AAA state championship at U.S. Bank Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Metro Player of the Year and Notre Dame commit Izzy Engle scored to put the Hornets up 1-0.
Wayzata responded with a goal from Lauren Craig off a corner kick.
Later in the second half, Engle struck again for the go-ahead and game-winning goal.
With the loss, the Trojans finish their season with a 20-2 record, their only two losses coming to Edina in the regular season finale and the state championship.
