Wayzata Girls Soccer Beats Maple Grove in State Semifinals
The Wayzata girls’ soccer team scored three times in the first 14 minutes on the way to a 5-1 win over Maple Grove in the state Class AAA semifinals Tuesday morning.
Tenley Senden scored the first of her two goals 5:09 into the match and later added an assist on Sarah Hyde’s second-half goal.
The Trojans also got goals from Grace Estby and Davy Mokelke.
Anya Gerlach scored the lone goal of the match for the Crimson late in the first half.
The Trojans (20-1-0) now play top-seeded Edina for the state title Friday at 10:15 am at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Crimson (9-7-4) face Andover for third place Wednesday morning.
