Wayzata Edges Champlin Park to Win 5AAAA Volleyball Title
The Wayzata volleyball team battled through a tough Champlin Park team to win the Section 5AAAA championship in four sets.
The Trojans won the first set 28-26, lost the second 26-24, won the third set 25-23 and scored the final five points of the fourth and deciding set to win 25-20.
It is the third straight section title for Wayzata and ninth in school history.
Olivia Swenson led the Trojans with 26 kills and Kaitlyn Vogt added 12. Sophia Johnson topped Wayzata in digs with 25 while Stella Swenson had 20 digs and 8 kills.

The Trojans (27-4) are the two-time defending state champions among large enrollment schools.
State tournament coaches will seed for the state tourney on Sunday with quarterfinal round play in Class AAAA starting Wednesday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Champlin Park (24-6) finishes its season as section runner-up for a second straight year.
