Wayzata Boys Soccer Rallies for Late Tie
It was about as exciting as a tie can get.
The top-ranked Wayzata boys soccer team trailed Eden Prairie 1-0 with less than ten seconds left when they made one last push.
Edin Nguyen had some space to send a pass ahead into the box, and it found Rukshen Ambrose.
Ambrose tapped it to himself and then buried a close-range shot to tie the score 1-1 with just under four seconds left.
That kicked off a huge celebration as the relieved Trojans avoided their first loss of the season.
Wayzata had several high quality chances and controlled much of the play in the first half.
Eden Prairie goalkeeper Carson Bell kept them off the board with some great saves.
Danny Hernandez gave Eden Prairie the lead with a spectacular goal in the 33rd minute.
Hernandez played the ball from his right knee onto his left foot and sent a perfectly placed volley over keeper Jack Roach.
It looked like that would stand up as the game winner until Ambrose’s late heroics.
