Top-Ranked Wayzata Boys Soccer Scores Impressive Win
After beating then number one Edina to open the 2020 season, the Wayzata boys soccer team assumed the top spot in the class AA rankings.
The Trojans showed they deserve that spot with another big win Thursday.
Wayzata beat third-ranked Minnetonka 3-0, with all three goals coming in the second half.
Both goalkeepers had key stops in the first half, Jamie Deneen for Minnetonka and Jack Roach for Wayzata.
In the second half Matt Hudson’s corner kick was headed in by Aidan McGoogan to give Wayzata a 1-0 lead.
Charlie Kassmir set up McGoogan for another goal to make it 2-0.
Joe Highfield added an insurance goal for the Trojans.
