Seven-Run Sixth Inning Propels Champlin Park Softball to Section 5AAAA Title

The Champlin Park softball team sent 13 batters to the plate in the sixth inning and scored seven runs to beat Centennial 7-1 and win the Section 5AAAA championship.

Centennial scored an unearned in the third inning to lead 1-0.

In the sixth, Kennedy Robinson and Laila Nestoss both delivered two-run singles in the seven-run inning.

Ava Abrhahamson pitched the Rebels to the win, allowing just four hits with two strikeouts.

Champlin Park (15-8) was the fifth seed in the section but beat fourth-seeded Spring Lake Park, number one Rogers and third-seeded Centennial (twice) to win the section for a second straight year.

The Rebels were state AAAA champions last season.
