Osseo Wrestlers Beat Armstrong, Fall to STMA at Section Tournament
It was feast or famine for the Osseo wrestling team at the Section 5AAA team tournament Wednesday.
The fourth-seeded Orioles crushed fifth seed Armstrong 66-0 in the quarterfinals.
Their next match was the opposite: top seed St. Michael-Albertville throttled Osseo 65-12 in the semifinals.
Osseo captains Jagger Schack and Jacob Meissner won by fall in the last two matches against STMA to give the Orioles their points.
Schack earlier won his 150th career match.
St. Michael-Albertville will take on second seed Wayzata for the section title Saturday as part of the new “super sectional/state prelim” set up for wrestling.
The format for state competition is changed this season due to COVID-19.
Individual competition in Section 5AAA is this coming Wednesday March 17 with the “super sectional” Saturday March 20.
