Maple Grove Softball Wins Section 5AAAA Title
The Maple Grove softball team beat Centennial 3-1 Thursday to win their first section title since 2019.
After three scoreless innings, Dani Strom drove in the first run of the game for the Crimson with a single.
Ruby Gouette added a two-run single for Maple Grove in the fifth inning.
Maple Grove pitcher Maddie Wilhm allowed just one run and struck out 11 to win her 19th game of the season.
The section championship for the Crimson is the ninth in program history. Maple Grove won a state title in 2019.
The Crimson find out Saturday who their first-round opponent is. The state tournament starts Thursday June 8th at Caswell Park in North Mankato.
