Maple Grove Softball Loses Section Final to Centennial
The Maple Grove softball team lost a heartbreaker to Centennial, falling 4-3 in eight innings in the Section 5AAAA championship.
Maple Grove needed to sweep a doubleheader to win the title in the double elimination tournament, while Centennial needed one win.
Maple Grove took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fifth on a Bella Daniels base hit that scored two runs.
The Cougars battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, then won in the eighth on a throwing error.
Maple Grove’s season ends with a 16-7 record. They were state class AAAA champs in the last season contested in 2019.
