Maple Grove Softball Falls To Edina in Extra Innings
The Maple Grove softball team went extra innings with Lake Conference leader Edina but lost 3-0 in ten innings Wednesday.
Starting pitchers Merrit Walberg (Maple Grove) and Ella Meyer (Edina) matched zeroes until the tenth.
After missing on several good scoring chances in the later innings, Edina broke it open in the top of the tenth as Lucy Grennan drove in the game’s first run with a smash past the drawn-in third baseman.
Veda Laabs followed with a two-run single to make it 3-0, and Meyer finished the ten-inning shutout in the bottom of the frame.
