Maple Grove Softball Blanks Park Center in Season Opener
The Maple Grove softball team won its season opener Thursday, shutting out Park Center 13-0 in five innings.
Jenna Gruenig’s bases-loaded double in the first inning highlighted an eight-run inning for the Crimson.
Maple Grove added a single run in the second inning and four more in the fourth. Pitchers Maddie Whilm and Cassie St. Peter combined on the shutout.
It was the first game for the Crimson since winning the state class AAAA title in June of 2019.
With the loss, Park Center falls to 0-2 on the season.
